Area V Names NAJYRC Team
Dallas, TX, USA
Jacob Fletcher and Falcon Splash
This year, Area V is proud to send 5 riders to the NAJYRC in Lexington, KY the week of July 26th. Two will be competing as part of the CH-Y** (CCI**) Team and three on the CH-J* (CCI*) Team.

CH-Y** (CCI**) Team

Anchoring the team and competing on the Ch-Y** (CCI**) team are our two veterans, Karen Shull and Jacob Fletcher. These two riders are familiar to most of us in Area V and each represented the area on previous Young Rider teams, Karen in 2008 (where she finished 2nd overall) and Jacob in 2009.

Karen Shull and Fernhill Figaro

Returning after a year's absence from the NAJYRC, when she was busy running around Advanced courses on her 2008 Young Rider horse, Paddy, finishing 5th in the CIC*** at Rebecca Farms, Karen is back to anchor the 2010 team on her new mount, Fernhill Figaro. Karen and Figaro are fresh from their victory in the CCI** at the Colorado Horse Park in June 2010. Although a new partnership, Karen and Figaro have proven to be a formidable duo, with impressive performances in both the Greenwood CIC** and Chattahoochee Hills CIC** this spring.

Karen was the individual Silver Medalist in the 2008 NAJYRC and was a Developing Rider in 2009, training periodically with Capt. Mark Phillips, Chef d'Equipe of the US Eventing Team.

Karen is entering her final year at Texas A&M where she majors in Nutrition. Rumor has it she hopes to become a nurse anesthetist and, we all hope, continue her riding career. In her last year of eligibility, we are thrilled that Karen is back to compete at the NAJYRC.

Jacob Fletcher and Falcon Splash

Jacob Fletcher and his horse Falcon Splash are excited to be once again riding for Area V in the NAJYRC!! They are moving up to the CCI** team this year and are hoping that the cross-country will give them a leg up as dressage always tends to bring them down. It has been a great year for the pair as they finished 5th in the field (but top ranked Junior Rider) at the Red Hills International CIC**. They also finished 4th at the Greenwood Farms CIC** this past May.
Rowdie Adams and No Money Down
Jacob, who just turned 16, lives in Arkansas with his Mom, Dad, two brothers, three dogs, two cats and last, but not least, 6 horses. They consider themselves an unruly herd to say the least. His horse is a 13 year old Australian Warmblood gelding. They are generally easy to spot as Falcon is a paint; luckily, however, he is also a cross-country machine! Jacob is very happy that Elizabeth Crowder has agreed to be his groom, and they will both do their very best to make AREA V proud!

CH-J* (CCI*) Team

Area V is proud to have 3 new riders on this year's CH-J* (CCI*) Team, Rowdie Adams, Tripp Edwards and Alexa Ehlers.

Rowdie Adams and No Money Down

This is the first year that Rowdie will be competing at the Young Riders Championships; and she is SUPER EXCITED to have made the Area V team!! Rowdie rides No Money Down (Boxer) who obviously has a BIG jump! Boxer is a 10 year old TB. Rowdie and Boxer have been eventing for 2 years together. At 14 years old, Rowdie is Area V's young team member this year. She has been homeschooled for the past three years, which allows her to travel around the country competing. We are lucky she does as she finished in a very impressive 1st place at the Poplar Place CIC* in March!

Rowdie has been riding ever since she could walk, and hopes to keep riding forever. Rowdie would like to thank her Mom and Grandma for everything they do.

Tripp Edwards and Clifton Inspiration

Tripp Edwards is very excited about going to the NAJYRC this summer! Tripp is 17 years old and has been riding for 11 years with his trainers Bobo Wroe, Kathleen Zins, and Weslee Wroe. Tripp will be riding Clifton Inspiration (Hershel) at the NAJRYC. Tripp and Hershel have been together for almost a year. Previously owned by Meredith Hardwick, Hershel is a 13 year old bay New Zealand Warmblood.

Tripp will be a senior this fall at Trinity School in Midland, Texas. Tripp would like to thank his family, trainers, and everybody else who have been so supportive of his riding career.

Alexa Ehlers and Crystal Clear

From Bartonville, TX, will be competing in the NAJYRC for the first time. As a 15 year old, Alexa is very excited to have the opportunity to represent Area V, on her 11 year old, 15.2 H, Thoroughbred, Crystal Clear! They have been partners for four years.

Alexa found Crystal at Louisiana Downs Race Track, where they became best friends. Alexa will be going into her junior year at Argyle High School and participates in extracurricular activities including being a part of the 2008 State Marching Band Champions. She is a member of the United States Pony Club and obtained her "B" Rating at the age of 14.

Alexa wants to say a big "Thank you" to her family, great coaches, and equestrian friends that have given her so much support along the way.
