Speakers Announced For Export Preparedness Seminar

Four speakers have been announced for an upcoming Equine Canada Export Preparedness Seminars. Presenting on topics of interest to anyone exporting horses from Canada are speakers from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Export Development Canada (EDC), and from Sea Air International Forwarders.

The seminar will be held twice, in two separate locations in Ontario, during the last weekend in March. Additional seminars will be held across Canada throughout the year however these dates have not been announced.

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, it will be held in Guelph, Ontario, at the Gencor Head Office from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It is located at Fire Route #5653, HWY #6, Guelph, ON, N1H 6J2.

On Sunday, March 28, 2010, it will be held at the University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus in the A.M. Barr Arena classroom from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The classroom is located at 830 Prescott Street, Kemptville, ON, K0G 1J0.

"Canada has the reputation as a leader in providing high-quality, safe and innovative agriculture products produced in an environmentally friendly manner," said Susan Stewart, Equine Canada Breeds & Industry Division Coordinator, Export Market Development. "Proven bloodlines developed in a healthy environment are the ingredients that make horses bred and raised in Canada successful world-wide at all levels of sport."

The mission of the CFIA is to safeguard food, animals and plants, which enhances the health and well-being of Canada's people, environment and economy. Dr. Alain Moreau will present on exporting germplasm (semen and embryos), and Dr. Connie Rajzman will speak on the exportation of live horses. They will be speaking at the Kemptville location only.

EDC is Canada's export credit agency, offering innovative financing, insurance and risk management solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. One speaker, Lynn Cote, will demonstrate how the exporter of horses can take advantage of these services. She will be speaking at the Kemptville location only.

Sea Air are specialists in shipping livestock. The speaker, Geoffrey Robinson, will outline sample export scenarios, including the steps involved and exactly how much would one expect to pay in today's market. He will be speaking at the Guelph location only.
