Wallace wins CCI1* Long Format at Midsouth
Lexington, KY, USA
Elisa Wallace wins the CCI* with steeplechase at the Haygard Midsouth International 3-Day event at the Kentucky Horse Park. Piloting Lela Wulf's 10 yro TB gelding, Good For Me, Wallace scored an impressive 75% in the dressage phase which positioned her into the second slot behind Nina Ligon from Thailand. The top two scores bested the rest of the dressage rides by close to 15 points. Wallace put in a spectacular steeplechase and cross-country round to move her into the lead and jumped a clean stadium to hold the lead.
"I was extremely pleased with Goodie's performance this weekend. We started with a spectacular dressage test, a powerful performance on the long format cross-country and a precise and careful stadium." Reflected Wallace after her win at the Kentucky Horse Park today.
Wallace's own horse, William, finished 6th in the CCI* - short format out of a field of 30. "I bought William when he was three years old out of a pasture in South Georgia and he is excelling beyond my wildest dreams." Wallace stated.
Wallace splashed on the eventing scene in 2007 by winning the Maui Jim Horse Trials CIC*** on her then 7 year old TB gelding, Jackson. That same year she won the CIC** on her mare Leap of Faith at Poplar Place Farm. "It has been a real learning experience and even though I was raised in the sport with my father, Rick Wallace, it becomes more real when the experiences are your own", Wallace said when reflecting on the trials and tribulations bringing her up to the present.
"It has taken two years to start over but I believe I am on my way back and this win certainly helps." Wallace said.
