British Team Selected for European CIC2* Team Championship

Eight riders and horses have been selected to represent Great Britain in the European CIC2* Team Championship to be held in Hungary in July.

CIC2* is an International two-star or Intermediate level championship event, formally known as the Rural Riders European Championship. It is run every two years for riders at the pinnacle of their Riding Club career and is funded by British Riding Clubs along with sponsorship from TriZone Boots and British Eventing.

Selected for the Team are:

  • Jodie Amos and Altairs Luck (South Warwickshire RC)
  • Emma Castle and Castle Larchfield Purdy (Solihull RC)
  • Jonathan Chapman and Urbanus II (Breakspear RC) *
  • Matthew Heath and Gran Chaco (Buckingham RC)
  • Hannah Mace and Toy Boy III (West Oxon RC)
  • Lucie McNichol and Zeus of Rushall (Kennet Vale RC)
  • Harriet Morris-Baumber and Shannon Dales Skatman (Ebor Vale RC)
  • Kathy Oliver and Algina T (Frampton Family RC)


  • Katie Barber and Western Ambassador (Rockingham Forest RC)
  • Shelly Dixon and Elkra Boy (Horsham RC)
  • Sam Penn and On a Par (Uckfield RC)
  • Claire Matheson and The Tussler (Isis RC)

The Team GBR Selection Committee comprising Sir Robert Hayman-Joyce (Chairman), Nick Turner, Richard Waygood and Peter Buist will keep the selection under review and it is subject to continued soundness and competition performance.

* Following a nasty tumble at a recent novice BE event at Aston le Walls, Jonathan sustained three broken ribs, a punctured lung and a fractured pelvis. He is making a speedy recovery and hopes to be back in the saddle in a few weeks.
