Megan Makes It A Double
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Megan Jones (AUS) and Kirby Park Irish Jester
Olympic Silver medallist Megan Jones (AUS) and her home-bred Kirby Park Irish Jester proved invincible when they led from start to finish at the second HSBC FEI World Cup Eventing qualifier of 2009 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre 01-03 May.

Jones enjoyed an impressive 9-penalty margin over the rest of the field at the conclusion of the two days of competition.

Jones and Kirby Park Irish Jester also won the first HSBC FEI World Cup qualifier of the 2009 season earlier this month at Kihikihi (NZL). In total there are nine qualifiers held world-wide.

"He was great all weekend, he is so much fun to ride. He knows his job and loves doing it," said Jones of her 15-year-old grey gelding.

Winning two qualifiers will secure Megan a start at the World Cup final in Poland in August. She plans to ride Kirby Park Allofoasudden at the final, a talented younger horse which she is aiming for Australian Team selection in the future.

And as for Jester... "He owes me nothing, I will just enjoy riding him at the nice events and not put pressure on him," said Megan.

Twenty-five horses contested the Sydney World Cup qualifier including Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold medallist Stuart Tinney who finished third on Vettori and 2008 Hong Kong Silver medallist Shane Rose on All Luck who was not so lucky this weekend finishing the event in tenth place. Victorian Lawyer Georgia Clifford and It's Monty finished in second place.
