Disciples Join Forces To Get Aussie Riders Back In The Saddle
Homebush, NSW, Australia
In an Australian first, the 2007 Bates Sydney International Three-Day Event, which was cancelled late last year due to the equine influenza, will now be held with the ISS & EFA Australian Showjumping Championships from 17-20 April 2008 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park, NSW.
Commenting on the new date for the Bates Sydney International Three-Day Event, Rose Read, Event Director, said, "We are very excited to have the opportunity to conduct this event in partnership with the ISS & EFA Australian Showjumping Championships".
"With over 250 of Australia's elite show jumpers, eventers and aspiring Olympians battling it out to make their claim to represent Australia at the Beijing Olympic Games in Hong Kong and take home the mantle of Australia Showjumping Champion, the event will be quite spectacular", added John Vallance, Event Director, ISS & EFA Australian Showjumping Championships.
"The outbreak of Equine Influenza has really put our Australian riders and horses behind the eight ball in preparing for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Australia is a triple gold medallist in Eventing and is champing at the bit to regain its title of Olympic Team champions in Hong Kong later this year," said Franz Venhaus, CEO Equestrian Federation.
"Conducting these two major qualification and selection trials over the same weekend will create a truly Olympic atmosphere and give our riders and horses the best competition possible to get them back in the saddle after EI and back on track for Olympic gold", Mr Venhaus added.
The Bates Sydney international Three-Day Event will include CCI***, CCI**, CCI* and CCN PreNovice classes and the ISS & EFA Australian Showjumping Championships will include Junior, Young Rider and Senior Championship classes.
It will be the first of a series of world-class equestrian events to be held at the Sydney Olympic equestrian venue from 17 April to 3 May including Grand Prix dressage, offering Sydneysiders the chance to see some outstanding equestrian performances, show their support for Australia"s equestrian sports stars as well as do some serious shopping at the trade stands.
Both organising committees would like to thank their sponsors and greatly appreciate their unwavering support. These include Bates Saddles, ISS, Hong Kong Economic Trade Office, Horseland, EFA National and EFA NSW, EFA, the Australian Sports Commission, the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation, Sydney International Equestrian Centre, the NSW Institute of Sport, Mitavite, Adina Vineyard, Club Equus, Rooty Hill RSL & Resort, the Holiday Inn Rooty Hill, McGrath Lander and Mandavilla Function Centre.
