Addington Equestrian Centre hosts first ever Wildcard for British Open Indoor Cross Country Competition

The British Open Show Jumping Championships (3rd - 6th April 2008) will once again host the highly acclaimed British Open Indoor Cross Country Championship at Birmingham's NEC and this year, for the first time, a qualifier will be held at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire, for the three highest placed riders to secure a wildcard place. The qualifier will, be held on 15th February 2008 and will offer the opportunity for riders to qualify for the Championship at the British Open where they will compete along side some of the world's best eventers. The Indoor Cross Country proved so popular at last year's British Open that the organiser, Grandstand Event Management, has announced that the 2008 Championships will host an additional Indoor Cross Country competition. This modern discipline will now feature the Championship on the Friday Evening (4th April) and a Power and Speed team competition on the Saturday Afternoon (5th April)

The British Open Indoor Cross Country attracts some of the most famous names in the world of eventing such as last year's winner, Raf Kooremans, world number three Clayton Federicks and World Champion, Zara Phillips MBE (who also holds the accolade of Horse of the Year Show Equestrian of the Year 2006 and BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2006). Vibrant music enhances the competition adding to the energetic atmosphere, showcasing cross country in an unprecedented way and in a totally unique environment. Of all indoor cross country competitions in Europe, the course at the British Open is considered the most technical of all and is a challenging test for both horse and rider.
