It's been a glorious day of dressage here at the Mitsubishi Badminton Horse Trials.

US Event Rider Jan Thompson sits in 24th place on the much admired Task Force.  Her Fellow Americans, Kim Severson and Gina Miles ride tomorrow along with home favourite Zara Phillips.

Riders are very concerned about the hard going on cross country, William Fox Pitt has withdrawn Idalgo and Zara is set to decide whether to run Toytown after her dressage test tomorrow.

Lucinda Fredericks sits in first place on her diminuitive Bughley Winner Headley Britannia (Brit) on 34.8 some seven points ahead of second placed French rider Jean Luc Bigot.

The course is a full up 4 star, big and galloping - how many riders will withdraw because of the hard going remains to ber seen.  Hugh Thomas and the Badminton team are working tirelessly to ensure the best conditions possible - rain is not in the forecast and the UK has had the driest hottest April on record.
