Wits End Canadian Young Event Horse Competition
Mansfield, ON, Canada
Fifteen horses gathered in the beautiful Mulmur Hills on Wednesday evening to contest the inaugural Wits End Canadian Young Event Horse Qualifier.
The competition was divided into two classes, one for four year old horses and one for five and six year olds.
The standard was excellent with some lovely young horses being presented to the judges. Jo Young judged the dressage and Olympic medalist Jimmy Elder, assisted by Walter Paidy and John Rumble judged the jumping, conformation and suitability/star appeal classes. Scores were awarded for each section and the highest total score was the winner.
The idea of the competition is to showcase Young Canadian Horses and to promote breeders who are breeding horses suitable to make top event horses.
An enjoyable evening was had by all. The next Wits End qualifier will be held on Wednesday August 9th 2006. Equus 3D Farm will also be hosting a qualifier, date to be announced and Foxpoint Farm in Dwight Near Huntsville is running one on September 6th. The top placing horses from all the qualifiers in Ontario will be eligible to compete at the finals which will be held at Wits End at the end of September in conjunction with the C.I.C.***.
