Maui Jim Horse Trials
Wayne, IL, USA
Entries for the Maui Jim Horse Trials in Wayne, Illinois are pouring in from literally all corners of the United States and Canada as well as from the local equestrian community. Riders will be competing in the broad spectrum of national divisions that are being offered as well as the three International classes the CIC One Star, CIC Two Star and CIC Three Star. The latter are sanctioned by the FEI, the international body based in Switzerland that governs the sport of eventing at the highest level of competition.

Maui Jim is the only opportunity in the Midwest where one can see the very top level of competition performed by world class horses and riders. Several of these riders have represented the United States in the Olympics, the Pan American Games and/or the World Championships, and several more are "up and comers" hoping to do so in the future.

Maui Jim Horse Trials, sponsored by Peoria based Maui Jim Sunglasses, will run July 7-9 at Lamplight Equestrian Center and the DuPage County's Pratt Wayne Forest Preserve, both on north Dunham Road in Wayne. The competition benefits the Illinois-Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dogs Organization as well as the programs that will be participating in the Illinois Special Olympics Equestrian Competition which takes place on Sunday, July 9 alongside the final phase of the event at Lamplight.

The weekend offers something for everyone. Food is available on site all three days, and in addition to watching beautiful horses performing feats of great athleticism, there will be vendors selling a variety of equine related goods. The grounds at Lamplight offer the additional bonus of gorgeous landscaping and enough seating and shady spots to make viewing as comfortable as possible. Admission and parking are free. For further information and directions to the event, go to the Maui Jim website www.mauijimhorsetrials,org.
