Darren Chiacchia and Windfall II Maintain Their Lead in the World Cup Qualifier at The Fork Farm Horse Trials
Norwood, NC, USA

The lead remained unchanged at the conclusion of the Dressage phase of the CICW*** FEI World Cup Qualifier on Friday at the Fork Farm Horse Trials, part of BB&T Outdoor Heritage Days Presented by Southeastern Materials, Inc.  Olympic Team Bronze Medalist Darren Chiacchia and his 2004 Athens Olympic mount Windfall II held onto the top spot with a score of 33.8 penalty points that the pair had earned on Thursday during the first day of Dressage.

"I am thrilled with the score we received yesterday," said Chiacchia.  "My horse was amazingly consistent.  With Robert's (Dover) help, he is getting better and better in dressage and he still has more to offer."

Chiacchia's Olympic teammate Kim Severson moved into second place with her Olympic charge Winsome Adante.  The pair earned a score of 34.70 penalties.  Mara Dean and Nicki Henley stand third with 38.80.

The leaderboard is one of the few things staying the same at the Fork this weekend. The threat of treacherous weather caused the organizing committee to make major changes in the schedule.  Show Jumping is now scheduled for Saturday and the Cross Country Phase will take place on Sunday.

"I think it's great that they have a plan and are making the necessary adjustments," said Chiacchia.  "We need to do what's best for the horses."
