Top veterinary practice becomes presenting sponsor of major equestrian competition
Allentown, NJ – 3 February, 2015 -B.W. Furlong & Associates Equine Veterinarians, P.A. is pleased to become the Presenting Sponsor of The Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event. The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) competition, held at The Horse Park of New Jersey, will include CCI Three- and Two-Star divisions, and CIC Three- and Two-Star divisions.
Dr. Brendan Furlong has been team vet for five Olympic Games, the World Equestrian Games and the Pan-Am Games. He said, “I’m excited to be involved with Jersey Fresh; it’s one of only a handful of three-star events in the United States and it’s right in our backyard. We are thrilled to offer title sponsorship and see the event continue being a successful one on the calendar.”
Dr. Furlong has personally competed up to the CCI* level at events including Essex (NJ) and Radnor (PA), and his wife Wendy has evented too; she was the US Eventing Association Master Amateur Preliminary Rider of the Year in 2010. Now focusing on dressage, she competes at Prix St. Georges level. Today Dr. Furlong is an active foxhunter, serving as Joint Master at Amwell Valley Hounds and he also hunts with the Essex Foxhounds.
“While neither of us currently compete in eventing, we continue to be involved in the sport,” he said. “We’ve had horses competing with Bruce Sr. and Buck Davidson, Sinead Halpin and Michael Godfrey, and we just purchased an Irish horse for Buck to ride. Eventing is a personal, family and business interest for us. Eventing has been very good to me and the practice in general, so sponsoring Jersey Fresh is a nice opportunity to give back.”
