Equestrian Events, Inc., producer of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover, is increasing the prize
money for America’s only Four Star Event to $300,000, an increase of $50,000 over last year.
Known as the “Best Weekend All Year,” Rolex Kentucky returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., April 23-26, 2015.
“The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is a high-stakes competition that draws the world’s best horses and riders,” said Lee Carter, EEI executive director. “Thanks to support from Rolex Watch USA and Land Rover North America, we are happy to increase the prize money for all of the top 20 finishers. These are impressive athletes.”
“EEI was created to help strengthen and support our U.S. Equestrian teams. We think the best way to do that is to create high-stakes competitive opportunities and that means prize money,” said Stewart Perry, president of the EEI board of directors.
“Rolex Kentucky” is one of only six Four Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere. It is one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian competitions and features the world’s best horses and riders vying for their share of $300,000 in prize money as well as a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, which is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four Star Events in succession. The 2015 Event is also an official selection trial for the US Eventing Team and will help determine which US riders will be chosen to compete at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, next July.
